Sohail Castle
The Sohail Castle is a must-see both to review the most important episodes of the town's history and to enjoy the best views of the coastline. This fortress was built under the rule of the Caliph Abderramán III in 956, on the remains of an ancient Roman settlement on top of a small hill near the mouth of the river Fuengirola.
Price: Entrance to the castle is free. If you need more information visit the official website
Plaza de la Constitución
In the central square of Fuengirola, you will find the baroque church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario, the oldest catholic temple in town. In addition, the Plaza de la Constitución hosts several activities throughout the year, including the Christmas market for its charm.
Roman Archaeological Site
Fuengirola is home to two important archaeological sites: the Finca del Secretario and the Roman baths of Torreblanca del Sol. The former is an important Roman villa dating back to the 1st century. It consists of baths, ovens and a factory. The famous Venus of Fuengirola was found here, as well as some agricultural tools.
Beach and Promenade of Fuengirola.
Belonging to the Costa del Sol, Fuengirola has splendid beaches whose golden sand is not so common in the rest of the province of Malaga. Moreover, its 8 km of promenade make it the longest in Spain.
- Playa del Castillo: this beach is located at the foot of the Sohail Castle. The beach is accessible for people with reduced mobility, thanks to the absence of architectural barriers. The surroundings are magical, its gastronomic offer will perfectly complete your stay in this natural space.
- Santa Amalia beach : it is connected to the previous one by a bridge. Its waters are calmer and the atmosphere is more family-oriented.
- Playa de San Francisco : It is the beach that offers the most services to the visitor and one of the most popular on the Costa del Sol, in spite of its small size (only 350 metres long). For this reason, you should arrive early in the morning, or plan your stay by reserving parking on Fuengirola's Paseo Marítimo.
