City centre
To get to know Seville in one day, you should start by discovering the city centre or historic quarter. We recommend parking your car at José Laguillo Car Park and walking for around 10 minutes to the city centre, passing through Ponce de León until you reach the Mercado de la Encarnación area, also known as the Setas de Sevilla.
The Setas de Sevilla are an impressive mushroom-shaped wooden structure from which you can enjoy incredible views over the city of Seville from above. Leaving the Setas behind, you can reach the crossroads of Tetuán and Sierpes streets, two of the most emblematic in the city.
Along either of these two streets, you will arrive at Seville City Hall and begin to discover buildings of great architectural beauty as you continue along Constitución Street until you reach the surroundings of the Seville Cathedral. In that area, and if you have time, you can wander into the old Jewish quarter of Santa Cruz or go inside to visit the Alcázar of Seville, one of the city’s star monuments.
If your goal is to eat in the city centre, you can stop at Taberna Águilas, located on Águilas Street, and enjoy some tapas and homemade stews from traditional Sevillian cuisine in a rustic tavern with delicious montaditos and cured meat dishes.
Plaza de España
Another thing you cannot miss when asking yourself what to see in Seville in one day is, continuing south from the cathedral, you will find within a few minutes what is perhaps Seville’s most visited monument: Plaza de España. Plaza de España is an impressive space built for the universal exhibition held in Seville at the beginning of the 20th century, and today it is one of the most photographed monuments in the country.
The square has a large fountain in the centre and an area where you can rent small boats to enjoy a ride along the canal that runs around the square. You can also look for the bench representing your province, as the square has benches representing each of the Spanish provinces, decorated with tiles typical of Andalusian architecture.
Guadalquivir River
Visiting Seville and not strolling through the areas along the Guadalquivir River is something you may regret. We recommend driving your car to the Mercado del Arenal car park and leaving it in the car park beneath the market so you can continue discovering the city on foot. If it is time for an aperitif, the ideal option is to head to Mercado Lonja del Barranco, where you will find different options to have a snack and continue enjoying Sevillian cuisine.
Then continue along the route and discover the exterior of Seville’s bullring, of great architectural beauty, and a little further on the emblematic Torre del Oro, which you can also visit inside, as it houses Seville’s Naval Museum. The whole area along the river is full of terraces where you can enjoy the good weather that Seville usually has for most of the year.
Triana
Once you finish this route, the recommendation is to get back in your car and drive to the next car park, the Mercado de Triana car park. It is the best area to leave your car in the Triana neighbourhood and discover its attractions, as it is one of the city’s most traditional and picturesque neighbourhoods.
In Triana, you can walk through its streets and discover an authentic neighbourhood that still preserves its characteristic communal courtyards and has many traditional bars. On Pagés del Corro Street, you can stop for some tapas in bars such as Bodeguita Albero, one of the most representative of Triana’s typical bars.
