Feast of the Virgin of the Kings
The procession of the Virgin of the Kings is a celebration deeply rooted in Seville, honouring the city’s patron saint every 15 August. Its origin dates back to medieval times, when King Ferdinand III found the image of the Virgin in the Giralda after conquering Seville, crowning her Queen of the city. The celebration is marked by a great procession around the Cathedral, accompanied by the Municipal Symphonic Band and an atmosphere filled with incense and devotion. This festivity not only highlights faith and tradition, but also boosts tourism, attracting thousands of visitors. In 2023, a large turnout of worshippers is expected, so booking parking in advance is recommended in order to enjoy the event without complications.
